Lecture 1: Crash course in algebraic topology: singular homology and cohomology, DeRham cohomology.

Lecture 2: The Morse homology theorem.

Lecture 3: Variational principle for Hamiltonian periodic orbits, action spectrum, the Conley-Zehnder index.

Lecture 4: Construction of the Floer homology groups for aspherical manifolds I.

Lecture 5: Construction of the Floer homology groups for aspherical manifolds II, proof of the Arnold conjecture on the fixed points of generic Hamiltonian diffeomorphisms.

Abbiamo appreso che la Commissione Scientifica dell’UMI ha approvato la nostra richiesta di creazione del Gruppo UMI proposto dai DinAmicI. L’inizio ufficiale delle attività del gruppo è fissato a giorno 1 settembre.

Il primo passo sarà l’elezione degli organi ufficiali del gruppo, le elezioni saranno indette dal Presidente dell’UMI nei prossimi mesi. Vi faremo sapere!

The Italian Mathematical Union has recently approved our application for the creation of “Gruppo UMI DinAmicI”, a unit inside the Union. The activities of the group will officially start on September, 1st.

PhD and postdoc positions at Bath and Utrecht

The school

“Modern Aspects of Dynamical Systems”

organized by Fondazione CIME to be held in Cetraro (Cosenza, Italy) at Grand Hotel San Michele, (see the first announcement here) has now been officially postponed to next year.

The new dates are August 2-7, 2021. Procedures for the applications will be decided and communicated by Fondazione CIME.
