Postdoc position at Università di Padova

 [expired]

A 18-month postdoc position (assegno di ricerca) is available at the Department of Mathematics “Tullio Levi-Civita” of the University of Padova, within the PRIN project “Stability in Hamiltonian Dynamics and Beyond”.

The postdoc will work on the topics of the project, particularly on: Hamiltonian and non Hamiltonian (e.g., nonholonomic, conformally symplectic, almost-symplectic) systems, including integrability and (extensions of) KAM and Nekhoroshev theories. Billiards and billiard-like systems, including their connection with symplectic topology. Dynamics and stability properties of Hamiltonian dynamical systems with singular potentials, including vortices. Convergence to attractors in dissipative systems.

The school is targeted at PhD students and recent graduates/early postdocs and features minicourses held by professors Mark Demers, Dmitry Dolgopyat, Gary Froyland and Carlangelo Liverani. There is some financial support available. Further details can be found on the above links.

Computer-verified proofs: 48 hours in Rome

 [expired]

Two DinAmicI are among the organizers of the workshop Computer-verified proofs: 48 hours in Rome, to be held at the Department of Mathematics of University of Rome Tor Vergata on 24-26 January 2024.

Website: https://www.mat.uniroma2.it/butterley/formalisation/

The workshop concerns interactive proof assistants, programs that allow one to write and verify mathematical proofs. As such, the focus is on the Lean 4 language and its mathematical library.

For those who want an overview, several talks will be presented on major aspects of this emerging field. For those who want to go deeper, a series of workshop-style sessions will be offered, intended to give participants first-hand knowledge. The aim is to provide an introduction to this area for working mathematicians and advanced students in a variety of fields.

Conference 'Women in Dynamical Systems and Ergodic Theory' in Pisa

 [expired]

The conference “Women in Dynamical Systems and Ergodic Theory” will take place at Centro di Ricerca Matematica “Ennio De Giorgi”, Pisa (Italy) on May 20-24, 2024. The event is organized by Ayreena Bakhtawar, Carlo Carminati, and Tanja Schindler.

The purpose of the event is to promote women and gender minorities working on Dynamical Systems and Ergodic Theory: the speakers will consist of women and non-binary people whereas all genders are welcome to attend the conference. The topic will cover different aspects of dynamical systems and ergodic theory such as e.g. statistical properties, numeration systems, Teichmüller theory and give connections to other mathematical areas, e.g. to geometry, number theory, Diophantine approximation and logic. The target audience would particularly be young researchers who want to explore different research directions within the broad field of dynamical systems and ergodic theory but also more senior ones, wanting to broaden their research by getting connections to research areas which so far don’t lie in their core research field. Researchers at initial phases of their career will be supported and will be considered for a contributed talk.
